I'm excited for the new school year.
The first week was focused on community building and establishing routines and expectations. We have a wonderful class and I can see we have tremendous potential for a great year full of learning and growing.
Please check your students folders and return the "Getting to Know Your Child" as soon as you are able.
The district has a new iPad policy this year. iPads will stay at school.
The 3rd grade team will discuss homework at Parent Information Night on August 28th. I will not be sending any homework until then. However, please encourage your student to read 20 minutes a night, seven days a week. Reading is the single most important academic skill they will develop this year.
We got to learn about Eid this week as this important Muslim holiday occurs next week. I was very impressed with the many thoughtful questions the class shared.
Student council elections are on Monday. I encouraged interested students to write bullet points or notes to share with the class on why they would make a good class representative. You may want to remind them about this.
We ended the week as a 3rd grade community with a sing-along.
